WORK PERMITS

Congratulations on your new job!

  • Students can only request a work permit if they have been offer employment.
  • Must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and good attendance.
  • You may NOT start work until the entire work permit process has been completed.  (2 steps)
Step 1: Complete request for work permit application (as               shown to the right) Make sure the student, parent,                             and employer sections are filled out completely and                         signed.
             Step 2
: Email your work permit application to Ms. Ibanez               or drop it off in Room #302 before/after school or during               lunch, not during your class periods.
  • The entire process can take anywhere from 1-2 business days during regular school hours and 7-10 business days during the summer. Please keep this timeframe in mind when you are requesting or renewing your work permit.

Renewing your work permit?
The same process as above applies to you. It is your responsibility to check when your work permit expires. Please request a renewal  at least 3 days before your work permit expires. Do not submit an application for renewal the day your work permit expires and expect to receive your new work permit the same day.

Please manage your employers' expectations by letting them know the following:
  • The work permit could take as long as 2 days from this first step to the last.
  • You may not work until the work permit has been issued.
  • Work hours during school must begin AFTER 3:02 p.m., which is the official end of the school day.
  • Depending on your age, you may only work for up to 18 or 20 hours per week during school, including weekends. On holiday breaks, such as Summer/Winter Break, you may work up to 40 hours per week.
  • You may not miss school in order to work a shift or go to training or get paperwork completed.
